Next door, Croix Veranda turns up the energy with DJ-driven nights, open-air bars, and elevated bites designed for guests who want to stick around after the sun goes down.
Between sunset dinners, weekend brunches, cocktails, and nightlife, this one feels like a mini Caribbean getaway in the middle of DC.
AMU Kitchen — Arlington, Virginia
Sometimes what’s new is rooted in generations of tradition.
AMU Kitchen brings traditional Afghan cooking to Arlington’s Langston Boulevard with dishes prepared using fresh ingredients, slow-cooking techniques, and family recipes passed down through generations.
The restaurant is designed to feel warm and welcoming—a place where friends and families can gather around food prepared with care.
For anyone looking to explore more of Arlington’s international dining scene, AMU Kitchen is one to add to the list.
Xi’an Famous Foods — Arlington, Virginia
New York has arrived in Arlington.
What started as a small bubble tea shop in Flushing, Queens—and later a food stall near a bus stop—grew into Xi’an Famous Foods, one of New York City’s recognizable names for the bold flavors of Xi’an cuisine.
Now the family business has expanded beyond New York with a location on Clarendon Boulevard.
Expect hand-pulled biang-biang noodles, dumplings, burgers, liang pi, and dishes featuring the family’s proprietary chili oil made with more than 30 ingredients.
For former New Yorkers living in the DMV, this one may already need no introduction.
For everyone else, it might be time to find out what the excitement is about.
Seki Sushi — Arlington, Virginia
Over in National Landing, Seki Sushi adds another option to Arlington’s growing dining scene.
The contemporary restaurant serves sushi, sashimi, rolls, and hot Japanese dishes, but one of its more distinctive experiences is an intimate 13-course omakase at the chef’s counter.
That makes Seki an interesting choice whether you’re stopping in for sushi or looking for something more experiential for date night or a special occasion.
Little Beast — Falls Church, Virginia
Detroit-style pizza fans have another reason to head to Falls Church.
Little Beast serves the thick, crispy-edged pizza style known for balancing a crunchy exterior with a softer interior.
Add wings, cocktails, and a casual atmosphere, and you’ve got the kind of neighborhood spot that can work equally well for a relaxed dinner with friends or an easy family meal.
Sometimes discovering something new doesn’t need to be complicated.
Sometimes you just want really good pizza.
The Briefing Room Cocktail Lounge — Fort Ritchie, Maryland
This may be one of the more unusual additions to the guide.
The Briefing Room Cocktail Lounge draws inspiration from the history surrounding Fort Ritchie, once home to the U.S. Army’s Military Intelligence Training Center during World War II.
The bar occupies one of the property’s original “finger buildings” and takes inspiration from the qualities associated with the intelligence work once conducted there: precision, restraint, discipline, and attention to detail.
Rather than trying to recreate the past, The Briefing Room incorporates that history into a modern cocktail experience designed around thoughtful drinks and conversation.
It’s a great example of how a new business can create something contemporary while still connecting visitors with the story of the place around them.
The Velvet Room — Bethesda, Maryland
For something a little more intimate, The Velvet Room adds another cocktail destination to Bethesda.
The experience centers around well-balanced cocktails, generous pours, an extensive whiskey selection, and a cozy atmosphere designed for conversation.
Live music on weekends adds another dimension, making it an option for date night, meeting friends, or simply settling in with a good cocktail.

That’s what we enjoy about tracking what’s new across the DMV.
There isn’t one type of restaurant or experience defining the region.
